After announcing its next major Dark Crisis crossover event, DC Comics has released the multiple variant covers of the first issue, due out next June. Surprisingly, some of these covers are being shown for the first time a brand new lineup of the Justice League preparing for their debut.
In the past few weeks, DC Comics had indeed announced the death of the current team in The Death of Justice League storyline. With the release of Justice League #75 next month The entire team of DC heroes will meet their destinywith the sole exception of one member whose identity is still a mystery at the moment.
The different variant covers of Dark Crisis #1 definitely show the heroes who will inherit a place in the Justice League: We see Batman by Tim Fox, Wonder Woman by Yara Flor, Superman by Jon Kent, Aquaman by Jackson Hyde and Green Lantern by Jo Mullein.
Although we note that all members of the team have been replaced with younger versions, Dark Crisis and The Death of Justice League screenwriter Joshua Williamson has revealed that “[non si tratterΓ ] from reboot, retcon or space-time rewrites. At the core of the story are the characters and the relationships between them that we’ve created throughout the great DC story“.
Also worth noting is a special variant cover showcasing two of the DC Universe’s most fearsome villains: on the cover, created by artist Dan Schoening Dominates Darkseid and is about to leash the fearsome Doomsday with a chain.
