In the Marvel Mutant release history, No screenwriter can match the legendary cartoonist Chris Claremont, Author of most of the most important X-Men stories. In 2022, Claremont will return to narrate the X-Men in the new Gambit comic series announced by Marvel Comics.
In the announcement, Marvel was particularly greedy for information. All we know is that artist Sid Kotian will illustrate Claremont’s scripts while Whilce Portacio designed the cover for the first issue.
Gambit is a mutant who is just as popular in comics as he is unlucky in movies. After a brief appearance in X-Men Origins – Wolverine, Gambit was actually chosen by Fox to be the protagonist of a separate film in which he was to be played by Channing Tatum. The Gambit film was later discontinued by Disney after it acquired 20th Century Fox.
Coming out in 2022, it will be the sixth Marvel Comics series dedicated to Gambit. After sixteen years at the helm of the X-Men, Claremont never really left the world of mutants from Marvel. His most recent work includes a 2015 series on Nightcrawler. The appointment with Gambit # 1 is therefore set for 2022.
