chainsaw man has proved to be one of the biggest surprises in the shonen field in recent years, and a large part of its success is due to the originality of Tatsuki Fujimoto's style, both artistically and storytelling. The manga's incredible popularity has led to a great reception for the anime, but what would the retro-style MAPPA series look like?

After the genre revolution proposed by a fan who had effectively turned Chainsaw Man into a shojo romantic comedy in a well-crafted illustration, another fan of the work decided to try their hand at imagining Denji's adventure in a style very different from that of Fujimoto. In fact, the Hanavbara site, specialized in re-proposing modern anime series with a retro style, has published four illustrations, as you can see in the post below Denji, Might, Makima, Angel and Aki.

The protagonists all keep their original design, rather simple, and the first major change that stands out are the very large eyes, more detailed than the original, and those too Color palette used to render the backgrounds much lighter and vivid compared to the dark and cold colors seen in the anime. And what do you think of this nice homage to the Chainsaw Man series? Let us know with a comment below.

Finally, here is a double cosplay of Power and Makima as a nurse, and we remind you that the home video edition of Chainsaw Man saw some bad results.
