During the event Jump Festival 2022 A new promotional video has been released for the anime adaptation of the manga, written and illustrated by Tatsuki Fujimoto, Chainsaw man. The video confirms that the premiere is planned for Japan in 2022, while the second part of the manga will appear in Japan sometime in the summer 2022 season (July-September).

In addition, Fujimoto began publishing the manga Chainsaw Man in the magazine Weekly shonen jump from the publisher Shueisha in December 2018, the first part ends on December 14th. The eleventh volume completed the first part of the work, the sequel is still in progress.

Production team

  • Ryuu Nakayama (Black clover, jujutsu kaisen) is responsible for directing the anime in the studios MAPPA.
  • Hiroshi seko (Ajin, Attack on Titan The final season) is responsible for writing and monitoring the scripts.
  • Kazutaka Sugiyama (Mushoku Tensei: Unemployed Reincarnation) is responsible for character design while Tasuya Yoshihara (Black clover, Monster Musume: everyday life with Monster Girls) is responsible for directing the action scene, Kiyotaka Oshiyama (DEVILMAN crybaby, space dandy) is responsible for the design of the demons and Yusuke Takeda (Eden of the East, Vinland Saga) takes over the artistic direction.
  • Kensuke ushio (DEVILMAN Crybaby, Liz and the Blue Bird, A Silent Voice) is responsible for composing the soundtrack.

Chainsaw man synopsis

The story takes place in a world where demons threaten the peace of people and turn them into targets to be eliminated. Denji is a depressed young man who has sold several of his organs and works as a lumberjack and demon hunter to pay off his late father’s debts. Denji owns a dog (who is also a demon) named Pochita who has chainsaws and with whom he does his work.

This is explained because humans can contract with demons. After returning home from a job, Denji is called by a yakuza to infiltrate a building and murder another demon. However, the plan was a trap to murder him under a yakuza contract with the demon to give them more power. But Pochita comes to Denji to help and joins him, becomes half human, half demon and acquires Pochita’s chainsaws.
