Chapter 2: Midnight Train
When strong men gather, it is because new tactics must be developed to keep an eye on the island for their benevolent plans. The conversations reveal the necessary information and open irresponsible puzzles, like for Zeke, who doesn’t know why he can use a power similar to that of the kings. The train in the dark runs for the duration of the trip to Liberia. The Eldians will be so happy that they indulge in the heady nectar and praise Gabi. The arrival marks the return to the family bosom, with some soldiers healthy and others ill with war trauma, and Falco decides to help. Meeting the inferior in order to survive, so as not to lose what little they have gained, regardless of the suffering it may cause.
Chapter Opinion
As I like to call these types of chapters: It was a transitional chapter telling things that will be triggered in the future and prepare us for the future. These chapters are important because they raise expectations and because you can delve into the characters. I think a chapter was good when you had a lot of commenting on its content, not just the action scenes. When I went elsewhere I only noticed that they use 3D animation (although I don’t know if in all of the scenes) but without looking like it. As Udo was moving, I realized that the 3D movement is different from the 2D movement. In the first case you feel, at least I do, something strange. But it doesn’t have much impact and is almost imperceptible as it can be said that the animation is still well maintained.
Meetings, tactics and plans
What to do if your nation, which was an international power, falls apart? Make new plans. I find it interesting how national and international politics are captured in this anime, without, of course, reaching their real depth. Although Marley was the winner, the era of the titans seems to be coming to an end, the increasingly sophisticated weapons can take on a “natural” force. Has science defeated magic? Here Zeke appears and proposes the failed plan years ago that will open the doors for them to bring Marley back to greatness. We still do not know the full magnitude of the power of the ancient Titan or the total power of the coordinates. They gave us short pats, but nothing specific. It is planned that the Eldians show their masters their worth.
Ships and nightmares
Magath comments that in the 3 years that have passed, not a ship they sent to Paradis has returned. Zeke says they could have another Titan besides Eren. Remember they captured the feminine and the colossal, but the most likely used one is the colossal. What are the “last people” doing? What really happened to these ships? They leave doubts about them, we haven’t seen them or we don’t know what they are doing, leaving the possibility of almost anything open, although the chapter has already given references to it.
Reiner has the consequences of the war. It is normal for a person to walk disturbed after certain events and vividly remember those events that did not allow them to sleep peacefully. Although I think there is a problem of polarity in Reiner’s case, namely: he admires and hates them, he wants to remember and at the same time forget, he feels that they are not bad, but has to force himself to believe that they are are. This can be the cause of your nightmares.
Intoxication of joy
Didn’t you feel like celebrating when you came out alive from a bad event? And I say “alive” because something is as “superficial” as explaining yourself to a person and telling you that it is difficult and when it is negative kills the answer inside. Such a thing, but on a larger scale, happened to the surviving Eldians. They are drunk with happiness, Colt is the most drunk, but their celebration is justified. Gabi’s narcissism increases because she is largely the savior of the battalion of Eldians, who are grateful to her and for whom they celebrate her as if she were their own goddess. Luck drives the midnight train into the car.
Reunion and encounters
To see a loved one or loved one after a long time is a great shock to the souls of the receiving relatives. War causes separation and sadness. How many people will never see their relatives again? You can see a happier picture here thanks to Gabi, but I imagine the scene if she hadn’t played the hero.
The most important ones meet their loved ones, but there is one area that nobody is in: the crazy ones. After seeing his family, Falcon goes with them and wants to help them. There we come across a figure with long hair, a thin texture that is highlighted as it is shown in a plane where he occupies the picture. Some already know who it is, the rest will know in the following chapters, but keep these details in mind. I only have one question about what happens after all of this: who committed suicide?
Eldians from Marley
Zeke, Reiner, Gallard, Colt and Pieck (what a lovely woman!) Meet to discuss what they are going to do. The plans are just complicated, but they are supported by an important family, the Tybur. Who are you? We do not know, we are given few dates, and their true meaning will only be known in the following chapters. Eldians seem to have Stockholm Syndrome together. They may not love Marley, but they have been conditioned to live with one another and acknowledge their inferiority. This is strange, but we’ll go deeper.
It seems to me that the overall content has been reduced and that they left out a lot of things, I haven’t read the manga, I just have this impression. If so, it still seems like a good synthesis to me as the important is not neglected and the characters don’t become redundant. Even when they don’t speak, they give some information (like Magath at the Eldian Reunion). May the quality be maintained, amen.
