On the official site for the film version of the manga written and illustrated by Shougo Sugitani, Eiga Daisuki Pompo-san (Pompo: The Cinéphile) it was announced that the Japanese release of the Blu-ray version of the project is dated next December 3rd in Japan. The premiere on global sales platforms is also expected on this day, provided that an agreement is reached.

Blu-ray version of Eiga Daisuki Pompo-san will be released in December

The film was originally scheduled to premiere in 2020 but was postponed to March 19 due to “multiple circumstances” and later again to June 4 due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. On the other hand is the manufacturer of Vocaloid, Iori Kanzaki, composed three musical themes for this feature film.

Production team

  • Takayuki Hirao (Futakoi Alternative, God Eater, Majokko Shimai no Yoyo to Nene) was responsible for directing the feature film in the studios CLAP.
  • Shingo adachi (Galilei Donna, Ryuusei no Rockman, Sword Art Online) was responsible for the character design.
  • Yasuhisa kato, Shinpei Tomooka and Naohiro Oosugi You were responsible for the animation direction.
  • Kenta Matsukuma was responsible for the composition of the soundtrack.
  • The virtual idol KAF performed one of the musical themes entitled “Tatoeba” while the singer CIEL he played another song called “Mado wo Akete”.

Summary of Eiga Daisuki Pompo-san

The focus of the series is Joelle Davidovich Pomponette (San Pompon), a talented film producer in the film capital “Nyallywood”. Despite his ability to identify the potential of actors and staff and highlight their talents, he only produced grade B adult and action films. One day, Pompo’s assistant Gene, doubting his choice of cinematographic genre, is hired to direct the film based on a script she wrote. Will Gene be able to realize Pompo’s “masterpiece”?
