Hajime Isayama quickly became one of the most famous mangaka of all time. There is no trace of this unknown boy who made his debut in 2009 in Bessatsu Shonen Magazine, a brand new magazine from Kodansha. The publication of The attack of the giants it changed him completely, made him grow and mature.
He is therefore no longer on Eren’s side, as he explained in a recent interview, and he is no longer the mangaka who had a strong desire for revenge, which was precisely pointed out in the story of Attack of the Giants. Thus, in recent interviews that he has given to various newspapers and at various events, he has revealed many details that concern not only his creature but his life in general. And just on one of those occasions, the Mangaka de The Attack of the Giants has shown to have rivalries with other authors.
However, it should be immediately emphasized that the rivalry does not concern drawing, the ability to weave a story or in any case any aspect related to manga in general. As a matter of fact, Hajime Isayama has rivals in table tennis. Table tennis entertained him, as did some authors he himself mentioned in a recent interview. According to the author, his big rival is Tatsuya Endo, mangaka from Spy x Family.
“I don’t know if it’s an interesting anecdote and I don’t know if you know the Blue Lock and Spy x Family manga. In fact, their authors were my former assistants working on Attack on Titan. Tatsuya Endo, the author of Spy x Family, is my big ping pong rival.” A rivalry that’s certainly special and one that Isayama seems to lose at times, but he certainly stays ahead in the field of manga, at least for now. In the meantime, he has no plans for any Attack on Titan sequels.
