A press release announced that the manga was written and illustrated by Tsukasa Ooshima, Shoot!, will have a new television animation project 28 years after the last. The completely original project gets the title Shoot! Goal for the future and will be released in Japan in 2022, produced by the studios EMT squared.
Ooshima published the original manga through the magazine Weekly Shonen magazine from the publisher Kodansha between 1990 and 2003, and to date the work has more than 50 million copies in circulation. The piece inspired an anime adaptation called Aoki Densetsu shoot!, Released in 1993 and produced by studios Toei animation. This production was followed by a feature film in 1994 and a live action film in 1994.
