When Hayao Miyazaki turns to fans for help in completing his latest film, we have good news Studio Ghibli. As revealed in a clip, the theme park of the legendary animation studio will open its doors later this year.
Toshio Suzuki, the studio’s executive producer and co-founder, shared a clip joining Aichi Prefectural Governor Hideaki Omura in confirming the opening date of the theme amusement park, which will draw visitors from all corners of the planet. The date that fans must mark on the calendar is that of November 1, 2022.
On the official website of the park that we remember, its doors are opened in Aichi Prefecture, located on the island of Honshu, it is already possible to preview some of its structures. There will be one at Studio Ghibli Park Sections dedicated to the studio’s best works, like Dondoko Forest, Giant Ghibli Warehouse or Hill of Youth. These attractions will open to the public as early as November 1st, while others will open later. By the end of 2023, Mononoke Village and Witch Valley have been confirmed.
While the Ghibli Museum is transformed under the snow, the different locations of the Ghibli Park are decorated with themed objects. For example, Dondoko Forest will recreate some of the structures from My Neighbor Totoro and will include one 5 meter high mascot statue. At the moment it is not yet known how much the pass will cost to access the park and if and how the Covid-19 pandemic will affect the structure or the visit itself.
