Hirohiko Araki is one of the most important authors of the vast manga landscape today. With his major work over thirty years Jojo’s bizarre adventure He achieved world fame, took part in events and meetings, but when did he first appear in public as a mangaka?
Several years before Jonathan Joestar appeared on Weekly Shonen Jump’s pages, Araki debuted and even received a nomination for the 31-page one-shot story Poker Under Arms twentieth edition of the Tezuka Awards. And it was precisely on this occasion that the 20-year-old Araki introduced himself, personally shook the hand of the manga god Osamu Tezuka and appeared publicly as an author for the first time.
