Evangelion: 3.0 + 1.0 three times, the final chapter of the tetralogy for rebuilding the Evangelion, debuted in Japanese cinemas with the recording of the Best result ever for a film in the seriesat the box office over 800 million yen (approx. 6.2 million euros) and a total of 530,000 tickets.
The film sold 21.7% more tickets than Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo, even surpassing the start collection of around 191 million yen (€ 1.5 million). The film will be shown in 466 theaters in Japan, where it will also be available in IMAX, MX4D and 4DX theaters. Initially, Studio Khara was afraid of possible downturns due to the health emergency, but the record start seems to have calmed the mind.
To give you a few feet of comparison, Violet Evergarden’s film grossed 550 million yen in the first five days and was considered a commercial success, while Fate / Stay Night: Heaven’s Feel III grossed 480 million yen and set a record for the first weekend the saga.
