Chapter 4: Hand in Hand

The words of a helpless seep into the head of little Falco, who tries very hard to outdo Gabi. On the flip side, Magath and Willy, the current head of the Tybur family, are planning strategies to restore power to Marley as before and return to the heroism they had with Helos. Formal gatherings and fringe parties, it is the setting where the four Eldian children struggling to inherit the Titans rest. In the distance two crazy people are talking, one who seemed more sensible than the other, but he turned out to be the one who talked the most. The most sensible "madman" pulls the only survivor into his clutches before the theater performance for a declaration of war.

Chapter Opinion

We no longer see the past, we watch the present with fear for the uncertain future. The story pauses, it lets us enter the world of the protagonists who, depending on their point of view, turn out to be antagonists. Empathize, participate for them, so that the ensuing confrontation leads to division, because who is right? We still do not know what mentality the people formerly called "last people" have, we can accept it, but we cannot guarantee it. I've already fallen in love with Gabi and Falco and their two friends. What will happen to me when they face the "heroes"? I dont know. Because of this, the chapter fulfills its purpose very well, creates tension and wants to know what is to come. Although there is no action, the tension remains.

Willy, the head

We finally met the Tybur family, although knowing about them says a lot because we mostly hang out with Willy, their patriarch. His family descends from one of the heroes who ended the rule of the Eldians and their demon titans. They received the Marlyan category for this act because they were the only family of Eld descent to have such an honor. In everything, they have remained neutral until that moment when Willy decides to lay his hands. That is why the subtitle Willy is the head not only of his family but also of Marley's fate as Magath tells him that he is a commander and because whatever it is, the operation is his.

Willy seems like an interesting character, but I have a feeling they broke him off in the chapter where more was said. We will see how he develops in the storyline and learn more about his family's past because if they own a Titan they can get information about the ancient Eldians.

contempt

There are two moments when we experience Marley's disdain for Eldia again. This was largely clear last season, but now it's in a more timely and post-war context. The first is Reiner's, ignoring the advice he gave to attack Paradise Island. The boss told him not to listen to an Eldian, Reiner shut up without showing a gesture, maybe he was thinking something that didn't reach us. And here's something else, too: it's the Eldians' self-acceptance of this abuse of feeling really inferior and knowing what it's going to bring, even though they have more physical strength. Even if you tell a child that they are useless, they will accept them and be useless when they grow up.

This is how they come about and we can see it in the case of Udo, who panicked when he spilled wine on the dress of a lady from Hiruza. They live with this fear all their lives, with this fear they despise themselves because the context despises them. It's them and their circumstances that made it so.

The Jeager

We all already know that the "tramp" is Eren. The conversation with his grandfather was the most interesting of the chapter. The words of the former Dr. Jeager are prophetic and even apocalyptic words, as if he knows what Eren is up to with Falco. He recommends that you leave the child alone and go or you will regret it. Regret what Should we consider a madman's words? I would say yes because in his madness he can have more wisdom than a reasonable person. To give just one example: In ancient Greece, madness was considered an outbreak of the gods.

Regret the same Dr. Jeager has something he regrets, and from these memories we know he is Eren's grandfather. His agony brings us back to his children, he blames himself for the fortune they both had which led him to the state he has in this chapter. What future consequences will the words of a prayer have?

Home of truths

Truth, one of the words I hate the most because it separates and confronts because the truth is seen from perspectives. Eldia or Marley, who really has the truth? Everyone fights for their truths and dies for their truths. He believes in something that gives life meaning. There are two truths that come to light: the theatrical performance of Willy, what will he say, what will he reveal? Is that really what happened, or is it just an effort by the Tybur to control the Eldians? What is pointed out will mark the mentality of certain people because knowing how to adapt will allow you to dominate with your truth.

The second revelation is another, regardless of perspective, although Falco did not notice it. Eren introduces himself to Reiner and the second calls him like he's a ghost he didn't want to see. If the truth doesn't suit us, we don't want to believe it, we are shocked and in disbelief. Reiner is another Thomas and Eren is the one who discards the truth.

We'll see what Reiner and Eren talk about and what is shown in the play. Those are the two things I want to see the most.
