Chapter 8: "Final Battle"

Dr. Stone Premiere of his eighth show. In all or nothing, the Kingdom of Science attacks the cave with nitric acid, the "miracle acid" that is resuscitated from the stone. Thanks to the surprise attack, the sonic bombs and the deserters of Tsukasa's army manage to take over the cave without causing any casualties.

However, Hyoga and Tsukasa spot the phone and reach it just before the gunpowder is made, which ends up strewn on the floor. Ukyou catches them ahead of time and is injured when he protects Senku, who is reunited with his old enemy. The latter offers to save everyone's life in exchange for his own. This time, however, our scientist refuses because he now has all the help from the Ishigami village. The strategy is to stop these two brute force titans while Chrome and Senku counterattack using the power of science.

Analysis: nature or science

Dr. Stone comes to the climax of the conflict between Tsukasa and Senku, the embodiment of two opposing ideas: man in the service of nature versus nature in the service of man. In general, the narrative and audiovisual treatment has remained faithful to the quality, tone and coherence of all previous chapters. It's also an episode that deals with action, suspense, and strong emotions. It combines the importance of strategy and strength with the will and charisma of the characters.

In this way, the actions and turns of the plot respond not only to the logical course of events, but also to the spiritual determination of each individual involved in the conflict. Senku fully trusts his companions and is not ready to sacrifice to the gods of the wild. With him, each of his colleagues is aware that they have gone too far to accept the disadvantage and condemn his efforts. Let us remember that civilization and science work for Senku because they are kept in a stable social environment in which each and every one of its members plays a role. Ingenuity, specialization and self-confidence make the ants defeat the elephant. Our protagonist knows that brute force will never be able to use the keys that made people cross the seas to step on the moon.

The formidable will of worthy rivals Hyoga and Tsukasa is terrifying. Two monsters with supernatural abilities shake a whole small army armed with technology, combat skills and well armed. In fact, it's a ubiquitous theme across Shounen: the willpower in the face of adversity that brings its protagonists unthinkable victories. Fortunately, Dr. Stone He has a solid foundation of strategy and logic, he doesn't easily leave things to chance. Mood is important to a consistent degree.

Source of power and violence in Dr. Stone

Dr. Stone It doesn't abuse violence or explicit images of blood, but it doesn't completely censor them either. In general, he has a very balanced measure of this, depending on the tone of the story. The plot unfolds from a happy and pacifist perspective, from the vision of the protagonist himself, and other characters like Ukyo and Taiju join this anti-war thinking. It is precisely for this reason that the violent scenes of attacks and wounds move twice as strong as in a story in which blood and death are an everyday element. Ukyou's sacrifice in this chapter and Hyoga's bloody spear illustrate this aspect perfectly. We are also impressed by the deadly and insensitive decision of Tsukasa, who is utterly convinced and obsessed with achieving Senku's death.

On the other hand, it is worth highlighting Yuzuriha's reflection on the nitric acid cave and devoting a few lines to it. Every human struggle, every advance or setback usually takes place over a source of strength that provides prosperity or destruction. Again the plot of Dr. Stone knows where to point and creates constant metaphors about human history.

Finally

Dr. Stone It culminates in the war for which friends and enemies have been preparing for so long. Action is associated with courageous interventions and sensible reflection, a lot of ingenuity, strategy and mutual trust. this is the usual trend in the series at the most exciting and anticipated moment. Senku is no longer alone against the extraordinary "primate" and is ready to fight his own to the last consequence, as he is convinced that the power of civilization and technology cannot be compared to Tsukasa's will to steel, like big it may be.
