# 24 A cry baby
Tokyo Avenger The final chapter begins with the meeting of the tomans after what happened on the bloody Halloween. There are two pieces of news that shake up the band, the first is Valhalla’s addition to the Toman. The second announcement is that Takemichi will be the new leader of the first division at Chifuyu’s request. Hoping to change the past, Takemichi accepts his new position and sets out to return to the future. The new future looks very different because Takemichi is now Senior Executive at Toman. However, the gang is still unfortunate and Kisaki is still at the helm. Without understanding all of what is happening, Takemichi follows Kisaki and Chifuyu to chat. Although it looked like Kisaki was a nice guy after all, it turned out that it wasn’t and he eventually killed Chifuyu. He tried the same with Takemichi, but his fate remained uncertain.
The conclusion of the bloody Halloween
The fight between Valhalla and Toman brought important changes for the band that will inevitably have an impact on the future. Officially, the losers of the bloody Halloween were the guys from Valhalla who worked for Kisaki’s plans to reinforce Toman’s forces. The losers joined the victorious group and tripled their number from 150 to 450. That all sounds like a landslide victory, of course, were it not for a heavy losing battle. Baji’s death is not only sad, it leaves the rest unprotected. Despite Mikey’s apparent distrust of Kisaki, that doesn’t stop him from continuing with the band and growing it. The only one who took his suspicions seriously was Baji and he’s no longer there to expose him.
Things after the bloody Halloween didn’t have the ending Takemichi expected, because after all, Kisaki is still a part of Toman and Valhalla merged with him. It is a terrible situation because it is insurance against a criminal take as he knows it in the future. In fact, the addition of Valhalla only further cements the roots of Kisaki’s power for the future of the Toman. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to understand that of those 450 members, more than half of the Kisakis are men. Let’s not forget that before Valhalla he also brought Moebius to the toman. Kisaki’s influence on the group is undeniable.
There is one important change from the past, however, as Baji’s will not only falls on Chifuyu, but is shared with Takemichi. Despite being unable to exclude Kisaki from the gang, Takemichi has another opportunity to join Toman. Takemichi takes on his role as the new premier division captain and believes this will bring him closer to the opportunity to change the band from the inside out, as he originally suggested when he announced he would be at the top. But at least one thing is clear, his new position must certainly have changed the future.
A new future
In contrast to the conflict against Moebius, Takemichi did not achieve his goal this time. Of course, he prevented Mikey from murdering Kazutora, but he could not prevent Baji’s death. He also didn’t get Kisaki to leave the Toman or get Valhalla to join her. The only victory was stopping Mikey from doing something irreversible, like murdering a friend. But in the midst of a major defeat, he radiated a little hope, and his appointment as captain gave him a new perspective. He already knew he had to do it from within to change the toman, so he suggested being at the top. His new position is to take a step towards that goal with the thought that he is going into the future. A future that clearly had to be very different.
The surprise was that the future for him was not just different, but a completely new one. During these twelve years, Takemichi held his position and is now a senior executive at Toman. Everything Takemichi now knew about his life was different, although some things remained over the years. Takemichi kept his friends by his side, but he wouldn’t say it was for best. However, the future is not changing for the better. The Toman are still a criminal organization, a new group has power within it and Takemichi has no idea who they are or how they got there.
While this initially seemed like a not-so-bad future for Takemichi, there is something that cannot be ignored. Toman is a full blown criminal organization, so it’s obvious that none of their top managers are really clean. It is difficult to assimilate, but the takemichi of this future could not be someone good, in order to keep power one has to allow himself to be corrupted by him. This is clear from Chifuyu’s final words, but it also makes it clear that all is not lost. Force may have rotted him, but there is still hope and that is what Chifuyu Takemichi wants to convey with his final message.
Kisaki, the manipulative genius
It took us half a season to understand who the enemy was and the other half to understand the extent of their plans. Kisaki is not just any antagonist, he is a brilliant strategist. From the first to the current timeline, Kisaki has always shown that he is one step ahead of his opponents. Proof of this is that he has retained his position as acting in command of the Toman for every future. That’s not all, especially when you consider that Takemichi interfered a lot in their plans, especially the incident against Moebius. But despite Takemichi’s obvious advantage of time travel, Kisaki continues.
Of course, Kisaki is a genius, it is also obvious that Takemichi is not the smartest of them all, but there is one more detail in Kisaki’s genius, he is a manipulator. Not only do you need to be smart to be successful, you can’t move pawns if you don’t know how to use them to your advantage. Leaders like Mikey have a kind of charm called charisma, a quirk that can be imitated. This is exactly what Kisaki has developed over the years. He does not have a natural charm that draws people in, so he creates this charm to attract and use people. Kisaki’s manipulation differs from Mikey’s charm in that Kisaki expresses emotions, both negative and positive.
The reason Kisaki made Chifuyu and Takemichi lower their vigilance was precisely because of their emotional manipulation. He knew that neither of them would be intimidated with simple threats, it was necessary to be emotional to catch them. So he used Baji’s death to break through. The truth is that Kisaki would never feel remorse for what he did, that’s the kind of person he is. But whoever does not feel remorse does not make him someone without emotion. At least he’s someone who can feel admiration, he feels it towards Mikey and most certainly towards Takemichi. “Goodbye my hero“That is the greatest admiration he can give us. In doing so, he showed that he recognized Takemichi’s efforts, at least in the past.
It takes a lot more context and development, but up to this point, Kisaki has proven to be an excellent antagonist.
What did the Tokyo Revengers leave us in the end?
The season finale caught up with us and left us with an impressive cliffhanger. If you are very desperate, run to read the manga. the chapter they left us in is 73. Though I honestly hope they’ll be announcing another season soon. Anyway, let’s talk about what we got from this series now that we’ve reached its end, hopefully just for now. In the first place we have a lot of husbands, we fall in love with 2D gangsters today. In truth, the charisma of the characters is impressive, even without a great deal of development you will love each one of them. Although the design of the anime wasn’t always the cheapest, one could enjoy every pixel. The Black Dragon showed up in less than 3 minutes and they already love her.
The two arcs he’s covered this season are the foundation for all of that Tokyo Avenger develops over the course of its history and in that sense this was a wonderfully well-run season. Friendship, action, drama, romance, there was everything that was flavored this season. Both the script and direction were very well cared for, resulting in a series that soon became the favorite of its season. Takemichi’s journey is pure and honest, it enchants the audience because it’s not about him, but about something even bigger than him.
Tokyo Avenger It has a lot going for it, perhaps the biggest downside that I and many others would mention is the animation. If we ignore that, however, we have a story with a lot of potential, an incredible soundtrack, and characters that are pure charisma. Basically a formula for success. After all, this is a story that doesn’t have to be overly complicated, as its strength is the openness with which it approaches its own mistakes. They may tell you this is an overrated show, and it may be true, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t deserve your praise. Anyway, #ToManSupremacy.
Final comment
Tokyo Avenger The last chapter was an incredible season finale because even though we all knew it was going to end in a cliffhanger, it still shocked us. I’m a huge fan of this series and that means my love for manga is huge, so I’ll say it again: read from Chapter 73 if they can’t or don’t want to wait for another season. Of course, I recommend that you read the story from the beginning, but it’s not that necessary, this was a very good adaptation.
Before we close with that, it’s time to make one final note, be careful here, this note pertains only to this season, not the series in general, because yes, I still don’t lose faith that we have news soon will have a sequel. Without further ado, I’d say this season is a 93/100 in my humble opinion, the adaptation was like a bespoke suit, and the voice acting work gets one of the biggest accolades. The extra is for the wonderful opening which is basically an anthem for this story. Seriously, animation is my only complaint, there aren’t always very good moments. It also has to be said that the cliffhanger is a little tricky in the end, but since I love it, I won’t reveal any more. I love it because it gives me hope for a sequel.

Finally, I leave you with my usual questions: what do you think of this episode? What grade would you give this season? How were your impressions of the series in general? Those who read the manga and are up to date, are they okay? If there’s a second season, what would you most like to see animated?
