Komi-san Cannot Communicate – Chapter 3: Social Anxiety Healing / Cell Phone / It’s a Committee Decision / Wrong Call / Saito-san

Agari Himiko suffers from social anxiety, so things don’t go well for her in front of what Komi identifies with, so she tries to talk to her. However, he did not succeed. Agari, who knew from the beginning of Komi’s presence, couldn’t help but be nervous, but thanks to Komi’s involuntary pressure, Agari managed to change a little, for which she thanked him. Get a new “friend”.

Komi got a new cell phone, which she never needed, so far she has more friends. So he tries to find out the number of each of them and has Najimi write it down on a piece of paper, and later Agari did the same. Although he previously revealed the number Komi wanted to register as Tadano’s first number.

Komi’s class nominates her as class representative, but Najimi refuses to save her from this situation. Though things get exaggerated and end up with Komi playing the role of “god” in the class. While Tadano ends up as class representative.

With her new cell phone, Komi accidentally calls Tadano while she’s checking and hangs up when she heard his panicked voice. But Tadano calls him back just in case and listens to Komi’s voice to apologize for calling him wrong.

As he watched a group of his teammates play ‘Saito-san‘Komi wants to try, so she manages to join with the help of Najimi, as does Tadano in support of her. But with little knowledge of the rules, Tadano saves Komi from punishment for losing the game.

Identify yourself with someone else

on Komi-san cannot communicate – Chapter 3 There was more than one moment when I could see the interaction of feeling that I was in someone else’s position. Some between characters and some between me with characters. First of all, the similarity between Komi’s problem and Agari’s problem had to be obvious. But I was delighted to see the small change in Agari’s character. Although they only just presented it and I couldn’t rate it as a development, I felt that the brief introduction and entry into its character and personality was well planned.

Agari was nervous when she talked to others, but once she got used to them, she didn’t have a problem anymore. For example, he showed courage by thanking Komi. The short dialogues he had with Tadano, however, were quite normal in his reactions. She didn’t show any nervousness about him (whom she hadn’t spoken to). Something that either represents Agari’s improvement, reading Tadano’s progress in learning the environment, or that there was an error in the matrix that was not reflected in the story from the start. Of these three options, I honestly feel that the third is the right one. A small “mistake” in the story that could go unnoticed and that I ignored myself until I had seen the episode several times.

Now that I’ve identified with a few characters, there is no doubt that Komi got her cellphone. Something that gave me nostalgic moments when I got my first cell phone that I barely used because I didn’t need one either. While it may sound a little sad (and maybe it is), that moment helped me see how I’ve changed over time. From someone who has only listened to the available tones to the need to use different ones depending on the importance of the message / call. The scene where Komi checked her cell phone also reminded me of doing the same thing. It was a pleasant memory that I honestly didn’t expect in this anime.

The other moments when I felt identified with a character, however, were mostly due to the reactions they had. For example, Tadano’s inner scream, his reaction to Komi’s voice or his desire to die to save Komi from punishment. No matter how many times I’ve seen Komi-san cannot communicate – Chapter 3, I always had a hard time seeing this moment.

The goddess Komi-san has spoken

The most interesting point and by far in Komi-san cannot communicate – Chapter 3 is without a doubt the one in which Komi finally spoke more than one word. Technically, he had already spoken previous episodes, but this time it was addressing a different character and not an inanimate object.

I have to admit that I loved the tone of Komi’s voice. I was only used to his few lines in the same manga and could never imagine what voice Komi would actually have. Not like all the other anime with all the other characters. He was just aware that he had to have a quiet one. I could even imagine the voice it would have Goblin Slayer, despite the fact that the character apparently has a pre-recorded tape on which the same phrases are repeated. But Komis surprised me.

Because of this, I’m not sure if it was just because I had no idea from the start how I would imagine Komi’s perfect voice, or just because of her seiyuu, Aoi KogaShe gave the character the right voice. But now I can’t get her voice out of my head.

Other characters he’s worked on Aoi Koga are: Kaguya Shinomiya (“Kaguya-sama: love is war“), Aki Shino (“Bokutachi not a remake“), Angel le Carré (“Princess main film“), Yuri miyata (“Two cars“), among other.

Komi-san’s main problem is unable to communicate

At this point I think it’s more than obvious what the main problem is from. is Komi-san cannot communicate. Something that only affects the public outside Japan. The number of written words that appear in each episode. This is an important point in the series as it is directly related to the protagonist most of the time. However, subtitles limit the experience that anime can offer the viewer. Especially for those who don’t speak Japanese or have not read the manga to know what these “dialogues” are saying. For example the rules of the games that appear in this episode.

That’s why I left the word “problem” in quotation marks. Quite simply because it is not a production error or a technical detail that affects the animation studio of the series. It depends on the companies responsible for translating the anime into different languages.

Another point to highlight about the series is that it is its main genre Piece of life. This is not comedy or a romance. It’s a quiet anime with its funny moments, but specializes in these genres. Plus, it has an air of drama (which comes with a communication syndrome). Komi-san cannot communicate It is not a story that seeks make you laugh What “Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou“, You want to make you cry What “CLANNAD“Or who wants to make you? reflect What “Usagi drops“.

I would personally categorize Komi-san cannot communicate together anime like “From Amaama to Inazuma“,”Flying witch“Or”New game!“. Each of them has its own special touch, theatre, Supernatural/fantasy and comedy, respectively But the calm of the genre of Piece of life It is what I believe outweighs the others. This anime has a story to be patient with. Something that I like personally, but which I’m sure more than one will be disappointed with if you have different expectations of what it’s about.

In addition, it should be noted that hardly three episodes will be broadcast and it is not known how many episodes this season will have. While it could be like a regular 12-13 episode season, you could extend it further. Right now, with the speed at which it moves through the number of “arcs” that appear in each episode of the animated adaptation, I see a chance it will last two seasons (24 ~ 25 chapters) at most. This is not Shonen as if you wanted to adapt the entire manga in a single season.
