Yuki Kaji, the popular voice actor, recently appeared on the variety show “Bokura no Jidai” on April 30th, revealing that he has been wearing the same baggy, ripped pants for ten years during the recording of dialogue lines for the “Attack on Titan” franchise. Other recognized voice actors in the industry, such as Kana Hanazawa and Tomokazu Seki, also participated in the show.

Special Habit During Work

When Seki asked Kaji if he had any special habits while working, Kaji replied, “Whenever I play a role in a particular work, for some reason, I always wear the same pants.” The two guests were intrigued by the revelation, and Kaji added that the work in question was “Attack on Titan,” saying, “I think it was a coincidence, but when the first episode was recorded, the pattern of my pants was black and white with a zigzag drawing, and it was very similar to the one in the series.

Without realizing it, I started wearing them on each recording day."

Ten Years with the Same Pants

Yuki Kaji has played the protagonist, Eren Yeager, in the same franchise since it began airing in 2013. Seki commented, “Well, of course, you wash them every day, right?” confirming that Hanazawa was also curious about this. Kaji added, “Yes, of course. This work turns ten years old this year,” he revealed with a laugh.

However, Kaji also mentioned, “However, I have been active all these ten years, so these pants already have some holes.” Both Hanazawa and Seki responded with surprise, “Have you been wearing ripped pants all this time?” But curiosity got the better of them, and they asked about the location of the holes. Kaji pointed out that he had to sew them from the center of the crotch, saying, “There’s only one more recording left, so they’re about to retire.”
