Hey guys, some exciting news for all the Bocchi the Rock! fans out there. Remember when we mentioned that Aki Hamaji's Bocchi the Rock! manga was working on a brand new spin-off? Well, guess what? It's finally happening!

In case you missed it, a promotional teaser was released some time ago, showing the silhouette of the character who would be the star of this spin-off. And you know what? The clever fans managed to figure out that it's none other than Kikuri Hiroi! She's a twenty-something-year-old woman, a bassist and vocalist for the band "SICK HACK". This girl is always rocking a bit too much booze, which often lands her in trouble, like breaking equipment during concerts. And because of that, she ends up drinking even more, leaving her perpetually short on cash, despite earning from her gigs.

But let's dive into Kikuri Hiroi's story a bit more. Back in her high school days, she had a secluded and gloomy personality. It was during that time she started drinking to ease the tension during concerts. She sees a lot of her old self in Bocchi and occasionally offers her professional advice. Pretty interesting, right?

Bocchi the Rock!

Now, let's talk about the spin-off itself. It's titled "Bocchi the Rock! Gaiden: Hiroi Kikuri no Fukazake Nikki" (Bocchi the Rock! Gaiden Hiroi Kikuri's Deep Sake Diary) and will be brought to life by author Kumichou. You might already be familiar with Kumichou's work, as they've been behind other fantastic series like "B.B.Girls," "I Love You Yori Aishiteru," and "Tanuki to Kitsune to Sato Gurashi." The spin-off is scheduled to debut on the COMIC FUZ service by Houbunsha very soon, although a specific date hasn't been announced yet.

To give you a sneak peek into what to expect, here's a little synopsis: "Hiroi Kikuri, a 25-year-old burdened with debts, values alcohol and her bass more than life itself. She lives in a 52-year-old apartment with a sketchy history and no bathroom. This is her story."

But wait, there's more! Let's not forget about the creator of Bocchi the Rock!, Aki Hamaji. The manga was originally published in the Manga Time Kirara Max magazine by Houbunsha in December 2017. And guess what? An anime adaptation graced our screens during the Fall 2022 season (October-December) with twelve awesome episodes. Oh, and there's even a compilation movie planned for 2024!
