The press release on the collaboration between the animated franchise of Tokyo Avenger and the video game for smartphones Kyoutou Kotoba RPG: Kotodaman, revealed that the manga was written and illustrated by Ken Wakui, Tokyo Avenger, has exceeded 35 million accumulated copies in circulation. The count also includes digital copies sold, and the twenty-fourth volume assembled will be released in Japan on September 17th.

Another parallel press release confirmed that the live-action film based on this franchise, released July 9 this year, already has more than 3 million tickets sold and 4 billion yen (more than $ 36.38 million) in retained earnings. This is the best rate of return yet for any live action movie released in 2021.

Tokyo Avenger

Wakui started to publish the manga in the magazine Weekly Shonen magazine from the publisher Kodansha in March 2017. The publisher published the twenty-first anthology in February 2021, followed by the twenty-second in April 2021 in Japan. An anime adaptation produced by the studios EYE FILMS, Headed by Koichi Hatsumi and scripts written by Yasuyuki muto, is currently broadcasting in Japan.

Tokyo Revengers - Synopsis
