The Japanese portal Oricon reported that the eighth, first, and seventh volumes of the manga were written and illustrated by Koyoharu Gotouge, Kimetsu no yaiba ((Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba) Exceeded 5.03 million, 5.029 million and 5.009 million copies sold respectively. These are the first volumes to have sold more than five million copies since Oricon began selling sales in April 2008.
The eighth, first and seventh volumes sold 66,000, 69,000 and 107,000 copies in the week from December 28, 2020 to January 3, 2021, respectively. The seventh volume contains the arc adapted into the film Kimetsu no Yaiba: Mugen Ressha henwhich explains the increase in sales.
It is worth noting that the sixth compilation volume of the manga was written and illustrated by Tatsuya Endo, SPY x FAMILY, which was released in Japan on December 28th, took first place in the sales ranking with 538,000 copies sold in the same period and is the second volume of this franchise to reach the first place after the fifth volume.
For his part, Koyoharu Gotouge began to publish the manga in the magazine Weekly shonen jump from the publisher Shueisha in February 2016 and finalized in May 2020. The publisher published the twenty-second compilation volume on October 2 and the twenty-third and final volume on December 4.
Synopsis of Kimetsu no Yaiba
In the Taisho era in Japan, Tanjirou Kamado is a kind and intelligent boy who lives in the mountains with his family. Tanjirou became the head of his family after the death of his father and makes constant trips to the village at the foot of the mountain to sell firewood and charcoal.
