On the official page for the manga written and illustrated by Yako Gureishi, Somali to Mori no Kamisama ((Somali and the forest spirit) a statement was released announcing the discontinuation of serialization. The statement states:

""Announcement of the end of the serialization of the Manga Somali to Mori no Kamisama.

Thank you for continuing to read this book, and I apologize very much for waiting so long for an update. The author, Yako Gureishi-san, has not been feeling well since the last update and in fact his health has deteriorated since then, making it difficult for him to continue with work. For this reason, after extensive discussion, we decided to stop serialization immediately.

Thank you for your support, and we want you to know that we are very sorry for all of our readers who have been waiting for updates. We hope you apologize.""

Gureishi started publishing the manga through the website Comic Zenon from the publisher Tokuma Shoten October 25, 2019 was the last update of the work with the thirty-eighth chapter, while the publisher published the sixth compilation volume in April 2019.

The piece inspired a twelve-episode animated adaptation produced by the studios. Satelight in collaboration with studios HORNETS, Headed by Kenji Yasuda and scripts from Mariko Mochizuki, published January 2020.

Synopsis of Somali on Mori no Kamisama

The world is ruled by ghosts, goblins and all sorts of strange creatures. Humans, in turn, are hunted to extinction. However, one day a golem and a lonely human girl meet ... This will be the story of this couple, one being a member of a destroyed race, the other being the forest watcher; and that will tell us about their travels together and the connection between father and daughter.
