Few knew moon knight a few years ago. The Marvel superhero is one of those niche characters that are rarely offered to the general public. However, the Moon Knight series on Disney+ turned the tables and made him a mainstream hero as well. However, the character was not only under US attention.
The Marvel vigilante battling multiple personality disorder actually landed in Japan too, much sooner than you think. In fact, Toei Animation thought of proposing one Moon Knight manga which you can see in the photos below. In the tweet you can see the presentation page of the series, which was released between 1979 and 1980, forty years ago, and then some pages from the first chapter with Marc Spector in action.
The manga was not a huge success and ends in a short time, so this collaboration between western and eastern comics is remembered by few. Who knows if a manga about Moon Knight would be good today in various Japanese magazines. Also thanks to the TV series, Tokyo Ghoul’s Sui Ishida drew Moon Knight with his own style and made it clear that the character now has many fans in the Land of the Rising Sun as well.
