A few days ago the Manga Up project started! Global, a transformation of Square Enix’s Japanese platform that aims to bring its best-known titles abroad by translating them into English. The ability to purchase the chapters and read them simultaneously with the release in Japan was enticing to a large segment of the public around the world, who were just waiting for a chance to legally read the chapters of the publisher’s various manga. Unfortunately, one thing was immediately clear: the presence of a very extensive and intrusive censorship in Manga Up.

The reports are circulating in abundance across the internet, including on Twitter, where some users have collected the images. Other costumes in other manga have also been censored for no reason, while the most absurd censorship sees the black bar on a pair of jeans with no erotic traits.

Manga Up Global then reacted immediately The risk is that this becomes a big problem which will only give more power to some groups of scanlators who will decide to bring the original product and without additional censorship. This hasn’t ended other controversies either, with the publisher being accused of splitting chapters into multiple parts, thereby costing a single chapter much more.

Instead, many Manga Up Global have suggested following the example of Manga Plus, which continues to grow worldwide.
