It has been reported that the second manga adaptation of the novels by Natsu Hyuuga and illustrated by Megumi Matsuda, Kusuriya no Hitorigoto, responsible for Minoji Kurata and titled Kusuriya no Hitorigoto: Maomao no Koukyuu Nazotoki Techouhas more than 3.5 million copies in circulation.
Hyuuga began posting the novels on the website Shousetsuka ni Narou in October 2011 and then began to publish on paper with illustrations by Touko Shino in August 2014. The Publisher Shufunotomo released the ninth volume on February 28.
On the other hand, Kurata publishes this second manga adaptation in the magazine Monthly Sunday Gene-X from the publisher Shogakukan since August 2017. The publisher published the eighth compilation volume on June 19 and will publish the ninth on October 16.
Synopsis of Kusuriya no Hitorigoto
In an imperial court in ancient China, it has been a few months since a 17-year-old girl named Maomao was kidnapped and forced to work as a low-ranking servant for the Imperial Palace. Even so, he manages to keep his curious and pragmatic mind and work until his years of bondage are over. However, one day she discovers that two of the emperor's children have become seriously ill and decides to act in secret, using her experience as a pharmacist who grew up in a poor neighborhood.
Despite Maomao's efforts to remain anonymous, she soon caught the attention of Jinshi, an influential eunuch who recognized her talents. Maomao soon gains positions in the Empire and gradually makes a name for himself using his knowledge and eccentric personality to solve medical puzzles.
