Finally the franchise of Hunter x Hunter is back on the road after so many years of standstill. Manga long hiatus, no anime, no other side projects except minor events: Togashi’s story had completely disappeared from the radar, like the mangaka, forced to give up his role for four very long years.

But now the series is back, the mangaka is active again and so everything is in motion. The Hunter x Hunter Chronicles Book 2 is out, along with the series tanko and the new Weekly Shonen Jump chapters. To celebrate the Work by Yoshihiro Togashi, but another event is in the pipeline in Japan. In Japan there is an exhibition dedicated to togashi, puzzle, and this has been visited by many authors who have crossed paths with their peer in the last 30 years.

Among them is Sui Ishida, the historical author of Tokyo Ghoul and currently working on Choujin X, who has always been a huge fan of Hunter x Hunter and also once wrote a self-contained chapter dedicated to Hisoka. And it is precisely on the manga’s villain that his illustration for the event focuses. Hisoka’s malice shines through in this drawing by the author of Tokyo Ghoulcertainly with a different style.

Given her admiration for Togashi, Ishida would certainly have been happy to make this design.
