A few months after returning to work on Shonen Jump, Shueisha appears to have changed editorial plans regarding its serialization.
After the first signs of a renewed slowdown in the production of the new chapters and the ever-increasing involvement of Togashi’s assistants to maintain a steady pace of release, the story of Gon and his companions seems to have once again reached a dead end. Based on the latest internal updates to the published titles catalogue shueishaand more specifically in the main magazine Weekly Shonen Jump, Hunter x Hunter appears in the category “archived serializations‘, alongside other works that have been canceled, completed or transferred to other periodicals owned by the publisher.
The confirmation came directly from the official Shonen Jump website as explained in the post that you can see below, which also shows the images of other ongoing and currently published series on Shonen Jump and other archived series. That announcement was enough cause great concern to eager readerswho have been robbed again by Hunter x Hunter after a very long break and this time it could be a definitive disease.
At the moment Neither Shueisha’s nor Togashi’s staff responded to the concerns regarding the future of the series, which, however, as noted by the fans themselves, still appeared in the Serialized Works catalog in December 2022.
