On the magazine’s official Twitter account Monthly Afternoon from the publisher Kodansha The cover of the eleventh compilation volume of the manga written and illustrated by Haruko Ichikawa, Houseki no Kuni. This volume is scheduled to be released in Japan on July 20.

Ichikawa has published the manga in Kodansha publisher’s Monthly Afternoon magazine since October 2012. The publisher published the tenth compilation volume in August 2019.

The work inspired a twelve-episode anime adaptation produced by Studio Orange, under the direction of Takahiko Kyougoku and scripts written by Toshiya Ouno, released in October 2017.

Houseki no Kuni synopsis

The story unfolds in the distant future, in a land inhabited by immortal life forms called “Lustrous”, who are incarnations of precious stones. The 28 Lustrous are led by their master, Kongo, and fight to fend off the Lunarians, who often appear searching for the bodies of the Lustrous to make decorations.

Phophophyllite, nicknamed Phos, is currently 300 years old, and the youngest of the group, and due to her frailty she is unable to fight. During a task entrusted to him, he discovers Cinnabar, who is confined and locked up because he is corrosive to any other gem. Sad, Phos decides to help him.
