Berserk is back in the sequel. Mangaka Kouji Mori, a good friend of Kentaro Miura, has decided to take the reins with the support of Hakusensha, the publisher that has published the dark fantasy manga in Young Animal magazine for many years. And the editor who helped Miura will lend another hand.
The new production group is completed by the GAGA studio and the longtime assistants of Kentaro Miura and who not only helped him on Berserk, but also on Gigantomachia and on the very short Duranki. Chapters 365 and 366 of Berserk published on Young Animal bear the exact signature of the design studio, which has managed to recreate the Miura Sensei’s style very well, barring a few small errors. On this occasion, one of them, Doratan-sensei, who spoke about it on Twitter, speaks Berserker production.
“Until now, Berserk, whose designs were about 99.2% produced by Sensei Kentaro Miura (the staff produced about 0.8% of the designs. No, maybe 1%?), To 100% are designed by our staff only. As previously mentioned, it will not be an absolutely faithful reproduction of the original, but thank you for following us to the end. additionally Sensei Kouji Mori’s supervision is spot on. The so-called final chapter was fully explained to me and I understood it. I knew it, but I was convinced he was a co-author of Master Miura, with no lies. So he monitors it seriously. I will do my best.”
Even Doratan-sensei knows the art team’s work won’t match Miura’s perfectly, but they are confident that they will do anything to make their teacher proud.
