The author has via her official Twitter account Paru Itagaki reported that the manga BEASTARS has exceeded the cumulative circulation of 7.5 million copies. Pointing out that it has been a year since the manga ended, Itagaki thanked fans for their constant support while they wait for the final season of the anime adaptation.

Itagaki started publishing the manga in the magazine Weekly Shonen Champion from the publisher Akita Shoten in September 2016 and ended in October 2020. The first season with twelve episodes aired between October and December 2019, followed by a second season between January and March 2021. The production of a third and final season is confirmed while Netflix takes care of international sales.
BEASTARS synopsis
In a world populated by anthropomorphic animals, herbivores and carnivores coexist. For Cherryton Academy teenagers, school life is full of hope, romance, suspicion, and discomfort. The main character in this story is the wolf Regoshi, a member of the theater club. Despite her menacing appearance, she has a very soft heart and character. For most of his life he was always the object of fear and hatred from other animals and was used to this lifestyle. But soon he finds himself more and more with his classmates, who have their own insecurities, and he realizes that his life at school will take a major turn.
