Banana fish synopsis

Aslan Jade Callenreese, known as Ash Lynx, was a refugee captured on the streets of New York City and raised by the mob’s notorious godfather, Dino Golzine. Ash, now 17 years old and the leader of his own gang, begins investigating the mysterious “banana fish,” the same two words his older brother Griffin has muttered since returning from the Iraq war. However, his questions are hampered when Dino sends his men after Ash to an underground bar that he uses as a hiding place.

At the bar, Skip, Ash’s friend, introduces Shunichi Ibe and his assistant to Eiji Okumura, Japanese photographers who report on American street gangs. Their conversation is interrupted, however, when Shorter Wong, one of Ash’s allies, calls to warn him about Dino. Soon Dinos men storm the bar and kidnap Skip and Eiji in the ensuing chaos. Now Ash must find a way to save her and continue his banana fish investigation, but will his story with the mob prevent him from succeeding?
