Watanabe’s vision took shape in the 1990s with a sci-fi product that hardly resembled a commercial vision of sci-fi anime. Rather, the acclaimed director brought to the stage a story full of regrets and an ever-present past, an underlying melancholy and a unique journey. That’s how Cowboy Bebop became a legend.
Cowboy Bebop is still highly acclaimed and a must listen today. Despite being only 24 episodes long, Watanabe outlines a good sci-fi universe set in a distorted solar system and with the spacecraft and space stations featured prominently, as well as the scene of collisions and conspiracies. Spike Spiegel takes on the role of the protagonist, a bounty hunter who travels around the different planets aboard the Bebop. Despite his nature, Spiegel will bring a few more characters onto the ship with whom he will form important relationships before leaving it all behind in the final episode.
The “bang” of the very latest cowboy bebop scene has been partially picked up by one Spike mirror cosplay made by Fan Ethnic Juices. Blue jacket and yellow shirt, green wig with very unruly hair and an overall attitude very reminiscent of Spikes. In the first photo, the proposal of the final bang is immediately reworked, while in the second photo the entire rendering of the bounty hunter can be seen very well.
Netflix’s live-action series hasn’t had the same luck as the original anime.
