While Box Speed Duel: Shadow Duelists from Yu-Gi-Oh! Ready to hit kiosks and specialty stores from March 30th, Konami just announced one brand new Speed Duel box set, Streets of Battle Citywho abandons the GX series and Duel Academy and returns to the origins of anime and TCG.
The Box Speed Duel: Streets of Battle City is what players will actually see embodies Yugi Muto and Joey Wheeler en route to the quarterfinals of the Battle City tournament organized by Seto Kaiba and Ishizu Ishtar to collect all three Legendary God cards. Yugi and Joey want to win the tournament, but they’re not the only ones wanting to do it: in fact, the streets of Battle City are teeming with enemies and fierce duelists.
One for all? Mako Tsunami, expert on monsters with water attribute already appeared in the very first season of the anime that will make life difficult for Joey and Yugi with his strategies based on fish and sea snakes: Let’s not forget that Mako wants to become the best fisherman in the world in honor of his late father. Another antagonist from the first season of the anime is Underwood weevil, master of insectsbringing his deck back to Battle City complete with monsters like the Great Perfect Moth and Insect Queen.
Other Farmer of the sentence is Marik Ishtar, mysterious duelist and younger brother of Ishizu, who sent three dueling hunters on the trail of Joey, Yugi and the Pharaoh. Two protagonists (Joey and Yugi) and six antagonists (Mako, Weevil, Espa and Marik’s three duelist hunters) are therefore the main characters of the new Speed Duel box, unsurprisingly counting eight decks pre-made by Konami and is based on the most iconic events from the Battle City anime.
The set contains a total of 228 cards, i.e. 200 commons, 20 skill cards and more 8 random Secret Rares in one Swimming pool from 24 tickets Buzz. Of these eight cards, two are certainly Slifer the Sky Dragon and the Black Magician, while the other six are completely random: in short, to complete the Speed Duel set it is necessary to buy several copies of the same product. The release of the box is scheduled for August 24, 2023 worldwide.
But be careful: the “normal” TCG cards They cannot be used in Speed Duel format, while Speed Duel cards are legal in the rest of the TCG. However, if you’re interested in the next upcoming TCG expansion, you’ll have to wait for the release of the Cyberstorm Access set, which is scheduled for May 4th.
