One week after its release on the Japanese market, the Blu-ray / DVD version of the light novel will be released Purple Evergarden, titled Violet Evergarden: The Movie, cumulative 88,976 copies sold.

The package was released in three different editions in Japan on October 13th. The limited Blu-ray version costs 12,100 yen (about $ 106) and cumulative 57,029 copies sold, the Standard Edition Blu-ray version costs 9,800 yen (about $ 86) and Cumulative 21,808 copies sold, and the DVD version costs 8,580 yen (about $ 75) and cumulative 10,139 copies sold.
The film opened in Japanese cinemas on September 18, 2020, followed by a world premiere on the platform. Netflix on October 13, 2021. Kyoto Animation had postponed the release of this feature film due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on production. The film was scheduled to hit Japanese theaters on April 24, 2020, although, as originally announced for January 10, 2020, this was the second postponement.
