2022 is a year of great celebrations at Marvel: alongside Spider-Man and Ant-Man, Thor is also celebrating his 60th birthday. To celebrate the milestone Marvel offers Thor: Lightning and Lament, a one-shot that tells a complete adventure of Odin’s son, which is an ideal entry point for new readers.
In August 1962, in the pages of Journey into Mystery #83, Stan Lee, Larry Lieber, and Jack Kirby gave us the first appearance of Thor. As Ant Man celebrates its 60th anniversary this year with the arrival of a new incarnation, Thor will therefore enjoy a new one-shot written by Ralph Macchio and illustrated by Todd Nauck.
“The mighty Thor left Asgard in time of need, leaving the Eternal Realm in the hands of his half-brother Loki in the absence of the rightful ruler Odin.“reads the summary shared by Marvel.”With Asgard being stormed by legions of trolls and Lady Sif struggling between life and death due to a potentially fatal wound sustained in battle, is there anyone who can save the Golden City from destruction?“.
Thor: Lightning and Lament will be a complete adventurewhich deals with the family dynamics of Thor, Loki and Odin and provides an ideal starting point to begin reading the stories of the Thunderer.
The one-shot will be released on June 29, 2022 in the United States. Below we share the cover of Thor: Lightning and Lament made by Ron Lim. This year Spider-Man also celebrates its 60th anniversary with a series of themed covers.
