the Japanese portal mesh lab conducted a survey among its readers with the question «Which key anime made you cry the most?», between July 16 and July 23 this year in Japan. The survey collected responses from anime productions from Key/Fine Artwhere projects such as CLEANED, canon, AIRamong other things.
Eleven animated television works based on the original works of were up for voting Key/Fine Art. Works based on the same original story but produced by different anime production companies will be listed as separate works at the voting points. The survey also included the original anime written by the screenwriter June Maedawho is also a member Key/Fine Art.
10. Prima doll
- Summary: Kuronekotei: a café in the fifth district of the imperial capital. The girls who work there are autonomous mechanical dolls, also called automatons. They were originally created as weapons for the great war that ended a few years ago. Now they are looking for new roles in a peaceful world.

9. Canon (toei animation)
- Summary: It has been 7 years since Yuuichi Aizawa visited his aunt Akiko, but now that his parents have gone to Africa to further their careers, he has finally returned to the small northern town. However, Yuuichi is not very happy at the prospect of living here as all his memories of this place and the people who live there have mysteriously disappeared. His cute cousin Nayuki also seems like a stranger, although he used to play with her when she was young.

5.Charlotte
- Summary: If Yuu Otosaka didn’t have the ability to take over people’s minds and bodies, he would be an ordinary high school student. Although it only lasts five seconds, Yuu’s mysterious power has allowed him to excel in class and enter a prestigious high school, where he continues his dishonest deeds. His pranks are stopped by Nao Tomori, the wayward student council president of Hoshinoumi Academy, who realizes his deception. Under duress, Nao persuades Yuu to move to Hoshinoumi and join the student council. The Hoshinoumi Academy is an institution created in secret for teenagers who possess supernatural abilities, and the student council serves as a vehicle to track down those who abuse their powers. Then an omen appears: Rin finds a strange letter on her cat, in which they are given the task of discovering the “mystery of this world” by completing certain tasks. - Summary: Yukito Kunisaki embarks on a journey in search of the winged maiden who was bound to the heavens centuries ago after hearing an old childhood story from his mother. When Yukito shows off his puppet show to people to earn some money, he finds himself in a small town where he didn’t expect to stay long. However, when he meets an unusual girl named Misuzu, things take a drastic turn when he is invited to stay with her. Yukito stays in the quaint village and soon befriends the locals. As he gets to know them better, he learns of their problems and decides to help them, putting his quest for the winged damsel on hold. With his quest on hold and his growing affection for Misuzu and the little town, will Yukito ever find the winged damsel, or is she closer than he thought?

2. Angel Strikes!
- Summary: Death is one of the many mysteries that have kept mankind in the dark since the dawn of time. However, the burning question of what happens to the soul after death soon finds an answer for 17-year-old Yuzuru Otonashi. Waking up in a dimension between life and death with no prior memories, he discovers the unsettling truth of the afterlife. This strange dimension, which takes the form of an institute, is said to house those who have met an unwilled death. Feeling offended by God during their mortal life, the school’s residents decided to create the Battlefront of the Beyond, a villain faction determined to oppose their student council president, Kanade “Angel” Tachibana, who is a god. The group’s leader, Yuri Nakamura, engages Otonashi in his fight against Angel to take control of her own life. However, Otonashi questions the morality behind his actions and goes behind enemy lines to understand the other side of their shared destiny.

1. CLANNED
- Summary: Tomoya Okazaki is a delinquent who finds life boring and believes he will never achieve anything. Together with his friend Youhei Sunohara, he skips school and plans to waste his school time. One day, on the way to school, Tomoya meets a young girl who is mumbling under her breath. Without warning, she calls out “Anpan!” (a popular Japanese food) that catches Tomoya’s attention. He soon discovers that the girl’s name is Nagisa Furukawa and that she calls out things that she likes to call out to motivate herself. Nagisa states that they are friends now, but Tomoya walks away, passing off the meeting as nothing. However, Tomoya notes that he is becoming more and more aware of Nagisa at school. Eventually he accepts her and becomes friends with her. Tomoya learns that Nagisa is a year late due to a serious illness and that his dream is to revitalize the school’s drama club. Claiming to have nothing better to do, he decides to help her achieve this goal along with four other girls. As Tomoya spends more time with the girls, he learns more about them and their problems. As he tries to help each girl overcome their respective obstacles, he begins to realize that life isn’t as boring as he thought it was.
