After announcing John Romita Jr.’s return to the Amazing Spider-Man drawings, Marvel Comics unveils a first clue to the new Spider-Man saga that will begin next April: It’s aPromotional image featuring Spider-Man in a smoking crater, accompanied by the slogan: “What has Peter done?”.
The image drawn by Romita Jr. seems to indicate that the crater surrounding Spider-Man was caused by Peter himself following the character’s reaction in the final cartoon. That’s possible, we assume so Spider-Man was responsible for a tragic act, which would feed the guilt that has plagued the Webweaver since its debut.
Aside from a spider device in Peter’s hands and a strange purple smoke rising from the barren crater, There are no other references to the tragedy that the picture foreshadows, but Marvel has announced that more information will be revealed soon.
The figure we propose below represents a first taste of Romita Jr’s style that we can admire in the new Spider-Man run. In any case, the author (or the team of authors) who will accompany Romita Jr. in the next run has not yet been determined.
Currently, several writers are taking turns creating the Beyond saga, in which Ben Reilly replaces Peter in the role of Spider-Man. The Beyond Era will conclude in March with Peter Parker and Ben Reilly clashing The new Spider-Man saga begins soon after, in April 2022.
