The Japanese government is considering revoking it early next week state of emergency in the Tokyo metropolitan area. City officials reported three new cases of COVID-19 today, the lowest daily number in the past two months.

About this, Governor Yuriko Koike said the metropolis meets government criteria to suspend the state of emergency. Officials are monitoring the situation based on seven indicators, including the number of new cases and the test positivity rate.

The government's target for new infections is 0.5 or less, out of a sample of 100,000 people within a week. A total of 5,136 Tokyo residents have tested positive for the virus as of Friday.

The Tokyo government has outlined a three-phase roadmap for the reopening. In the first phase, following the lifting of the state of emergency, museums, sports facilities, schools and similar structures will reopen, but seats will be prohibited until the second phase.

At the moment, bars and restaurants have an obligation to close before 20:00, but in the first phase the timetable will be extended to 22:00.

During the second phase, cinemas, shows and tutoring schools will reopen and driving, meeting and exhibition rooms, shops offering non-essential goods and services. Arcades, amusement parks, pachinko salons, manga cafes, shooting ranges and playful environments will reopen in the third phase.

During the third phase, bars and restaurants will close before midnight. The number of participants in events during phase 1 will be limited to 50, 100 in phase 2 and 1,000 in phase 3. the government specifically requests that clubs with live music, restaurants with entertainment (such as Nightclubs), karaoke, gyms for the fitness and in general structures at high risk of infection remain closed in one of the three phases.
