Through the official website for the new franchise of Youkai Ningen Bem, the first trailer for the film project was revealed, which was announced a few hours ago under the title of BEM: Become Human. The premiere for the film is scheduled for the fall of 2020 in theaters in Japan.

Production team

This feature film will be animated in the studios Production I.G and will have the direction of Hiroshi Ikehata (Uchuu Senkan Tiramisu). The scripts will be in charge of Atsuhiro Tomioka (One Piece Stampede) while Mino Matsumoto (Junketsu no Maria) will be in charge of designing the characters.

For its part, the Youkai Ningen Bem manga is a 26-episode original anime produced by the studios. Daichi Douga, which premiered in Japan in 1968 and has inspired multiple new projects since then, including a remake released in April 2006, a live-action series in October 2011, and a live-action film in December 2012.

A third animated series titled BEM featured twelve episodes produced by studios LandQ Studios, under the direction of Yoshinori Odaka and scripts written by Atsuhiro Tomioka, released in July 2019.

BEM Synopsis

Bem, Bela and Belo are ugly humanoid monsters (yōkai) who fight for justice. Monsters live among humans and protect them from evil yōkai. All three are excluded from both humans and other yōkai, but continue to fight in the hope that one day they will become humans.
