The legend of Dragon Ball inspired all mangaka generations that came after Akira Toriyama. Thanks to this successful shonen, Weekly Shonen Jump became the most attractive manga magazine in all of Japan. Today, the story of Akira Toriyama continues Dragon Ball great.
Meanwhile, however, Shueisha has started a project aimed at recreating some historical Dragon Ball covers. The 42 original volumes landed in the lens of some prominent mangaka, who in turn propose their own version of the illustration – sometimes faithful to the original with a different style, sometimes cartoonish and parodic.
That This time it’s the turn of Dragon Quest – Give the Great Adventure, designed by Yuji Horii. The mangaka returns to drawing after a long hiatus with this illustration that features the cover of Volume 3 of Dragon Ball, which focuses on Goku’s first tenkaichi tournament. The protagonist is in the same pose while Master Roshi is watching with interest the two invaders coming on the left side of Dragon Quest.
