China is changing Japanese animation, that’s a widely held belief in the industry now. Recently though Kyoko KotaniKey Animator and Animation Director for popular titles such as Spy x familyHe recently commented on what could once again become a problem for the industry: “The workers at an animation company in China have been absent for several days due to a Covid infection and it seems that the amount of work we can put them through is decreasing“.
Strictly speaking Japan relies heavily on China as well as South Korea for the production support so much that Kotani adds: “Not only Chinese but also South Korean animation companies are finding it increasingly difficult to apply for work due to Covid and it has become impossible that the title I am working on that is not a TV series is fully colored in the end this year“.
In any case, the animator warns that the industry would definitely have slowed down during this period for the New Year, and therefore the impact of this situation on the winter season should not be seen. And you, but what do you think of this situation? Let us know with a comment below.
