In 2022, the animated series X-Men will be 30 years old. To celebrate, in addition to the animated series X Men 97 announced for Disney+, Marvel Comics has also announced House of XCII, a five-issue miniseries that revisits the situations read in the acclaimed House of X with the X-Men from 1992.
X-Men ’92: House of XCII is written by Steve Foxe and illustrated by Salva Espin. According to the synopsis published by Marvel, over the course of the miniseries the mutant population will form a new nation on the island of Krakoa, led by Professor X and Magneto. but it won’t be the story we know: The action, mystery and drama of House of X are remixed in all-new ways, including characters from the animated series X-Men: The Animated Series.
“One of my earliest memories is buying a Garrison Kane action figure. […], that is, how much the X-Men of the ’90s had a huge impact on my growth“explains Foxe.”To have the opportunity to celebrate such an important era in mutant history 30 years later – and to be able to reframe the franchise – to redefine the work that creators like Jonathan Hickman, Tini Howard and Gerry Duggan are currently doing – is the definition of a “dream job”, especially with the crazy detours we make around the source material. If I died tomorrow, I’d die happy… But please bring me back to Krakoa as soon as possible to live“.
The release of X-Men ’92: House of XCII #1 is scheduled for April 6, 2022. For the past few days, Marvel readers have had the opportunity to vote for a new member of the X Men thanks to X Men Vote, and the winner will be announced by Marvel in the coming days.
