Closing the anime with Sword Art Online: Alicization – War of Underworld, the saga from Reki Kawahara's light novel hasn't ended yet. Along with the advances in the novel industry, the anime continues as well Move forward thanks to the progressive sagawhich has populated the cinemas in recent years.
The first film was Sword Art Online Progressive: Aria of a Starless Night, a huge hit at the Japanese box office in 2021, but a second film has also been awaited for some time, with its debut slated for the second half of 2022. Unfortunately however due to Covid's second Sword Art Online progressive film it has been postponed. The screening was originally scheduled for an August 24 preview and September 10 in Japanese cinemas.
Luckily for fans of the saga, there's an official release date now, and it's not too far off either. Sword Art Online Progressive: Scherzo of a Dark Dusk hits Japanese theaters on October 22, 2022, a little more than a month after the originally planned date. The announcement was made on the official website of the project. Asuna and Kirito are ready for the return of the saga, albeit this time in a movie version.
