The official Twitter account Kynio Road Show announced this Monday that Susumu Kazuhara, trumpeter, had been working on the music of My neighbor Totoro, Laputa: The Castle in the Sky and many other animated projects died at the age of 74.

Also known by the Shin Kazuhara pseudonym, was born on September 13, 1946 in Okayama Prefecture and attended Kunitachi College of Music. After leaving, he became a freelance artist for four bands including Tokyo Union and Tatsuya Takahashi.

Kazuhara led theTrumpet solo, played on the screen of the male protagonist Pazu, in the song "Hato to Shonen" ("Doves and a boy") from the film Laputa: the catsello in the sky by the master Hayao Miyazaki. He then appeared in other works by Studio Ghibli and assisted composer Joe Hisaishi on Il Mio Vicino Totoro, Porco Rosso and Kiki - Home Delivery.

The trumpeter has also worked on all of the television series and films from Lupine III, ONE PIECE's "We Are" soundtrack and Mobile SUit Gundam's "Dashing Char" solo in collaboration with Yumi Matsutoya, Anri, SMAP and SPEED.
