After the death of the master of mystical arts narrated in The Death of Doctor Strange, Clea Strange is the new Sorcerer Supreme, protagonist of the new series “Strange”. The first issue of Strange has unexpected brings a character back to life that is usually far removed from Doctor Strange storieswho has been dead for several years.
Since Clea was intent on bringing her late husband Stephen Strange back to life in Strange’s premise, a character’s resurrection shouldn’t come as a surprise. Still in Strange #1 It’s not the ex-Sorcerer Supreme who’s brought back to life, it’s ThunderstrikeSubstitute for the son of Odin in the 90’s Thor stories.
Originally introduced in Thor #391, Thunderstrike is the alter ego of Eric Masterson, a Terran friend of Thor’s who He came to take the role of the god of thunder for a time, inheriting his powers. Despite the character’s popularity, Thunderstrike was short-lived and has been dead in the comics for more than twenty years.
With the release of Strange #1 by Jed MacKay and Marcelo Ferreira, Thunderstrike was then brought back to life. In fact, this statement may be somewhat inaccurate: The character is actually back as a zombiesummoned by the spells of a new villain, The Harvestman.
“The Harvestman is Clea’s enemy in his search for Stephen Strange“revealed screenwriter MacKay.”A fierce executioner, The Harvestman is the dark reflection of the Sorcerer Supreme. Where the Sorcerer Supreme is life, magic, and the warm heartbeat of the world, The Harvestman is death, darkness, and sorrow.“.
The adventures of Clea, The Harvestman and the Zombie Thunderstrike continue on April 6th with the US release of Strange #2. Despite his death in the comics, we’ll soon be seeing Stephen back in cinemas in the movie Multiverse of Madness (here’s the recent international trailer for Doctor Strange 2).
