The new comic book series The High Republic Trail of Shadows, published by Marvel Comics, has expanded into official Star Wars canon with the introduction of the Levellers, mysterious monsters that feed on the Force. With the release of the latest issue, the appearance of these fearsome foes of the Jedi Knights has finally been revealed.
“We treat it like we’re in Alien. We take our time‘ explained miniseries writer Daniel Older during the ComicBook Nation podcast. You don’t reveal your monster at the first table, in the first shot – you have to get there slowly. And its effect is the most important thing“.
In The High Republic: Trail of Shadows #5, released February 9 in the US, Older lived up to his words, finally shows what these levellers look like and provides some more information on her background. These are monsters capable of draining the power users of all power and subjecting them to terrifying hallucinations.
Also called “Shrii-Ka-Rai: Force Eaters” or “The Nameless”, these monsters were exploited by space pirate collective The Nihil in Trail of Shadows with the intention of targeting the Jedi Order.
Star Wars: The High Republic – Trail of Shadows #5, the latest installment in Daniel Older and Dave Wachter’s miniseries, is already available in the US. Below we share the tables showing the appearance of the levellers for the first time. According to a recent rumor, a High Republic Star Wars series may be in development for Dinsey Plus.
