The rumors about the anime adaptation of Soredemo Ayumu wa Yosetekuru turned out to be correct, and a few moments ago Kodansha confirmed the production at the studio Silver Link (Bofuri, KimiSen) and published in July 2022. For the author Soichiro Yamamoto, this is the third anime adaptation after the first two seasons of Takagi-san.

Soredemo Ayumu wa Yosetekuru (lit. “Ayumu, when are you going to move?”) tells the story of Ayumu Tanaka, a listless and extremely self-confident boy who wants to confess his feelings to Senpai Urashi Yaotome, the president of his high school shogi club. However, Ayumu refuses to admit his feelings until he can beat the girl in a shogi match, while Urushi, unaware of his plan, keeps beating him and tries to get him to admit he has a crush on her .

Yamamoto’s manga will be published in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine on March 6, 2019 and 7 volumes have currently been publishedwhich should be around 12 at the time of the anime’s release. Kodansha revealed that Mirai Minato (Bofuri) will direct the anime at Silver Link while Decoration Akao (PokΓ©mon Exploration, Noragami) will write the script. The character design is in the hands of Kazuya Hirata (Bofuri), who has already created the first key visual visible below.
