On the official site for the animated adaptation of the manga written and illustrated by Tsutomu Nihei, Sidonia no kishiA new promo video has been released for the upcoming film entitled Sidonia no Kishi: Ai Tsumugu Hoshi ((Knights of Sidonia: The star in which love is spun). The video shows a fragment of the main theme song entitled "Hikari no Disco" performed by CAPSULE.
This film is slated to premiere in Japanese theaters next May 14, and its description confirmed that it will end the animated franchise. In addition, it has previously been confirmed to be a completely original story that modifies the events of the source manga.
Nihei published the manga in the magazine Monthly afternoon from the publisher Kodansha between April 2009 and September 2015. The publisher has compiled the work in a total of fifteen volumes. The piece inspired a twelve-episode anime adaptation produced by the studios. Polygon images, Headed by Koubun Shizuno and scripts written by Sadayuki Murai, released April 2014. A second season of twelve episodes premiered in April 2015.

Synopsis of Sidonia no Kishi
After the Gauna alien race destroyed the earth a few years ago, they pursued the survivors of humanity who fled to the end of the galaxy after fleeing aboard huge seed ships. In 3394, Nagate Tanizake emerged from his lifelong solitude deep in the mothership Sidonia in search of food for the higher planes, only to become embroiled in a series of events that played out before him.
When the Gauna begins to attack Sidonia, Tanikaze, with the help of his soldiers and friends Shizuka Hishijiro, Izana Shinatose and Yuhata Midorikawa, will be left to defend the last line of humanity and defeat the evil aliens.
