Mangamura's CEO was arrested in January 2021 and even forced to pay a large fine for managing one of the pirate sites that contained a large number of manga. Despite the service's closure, piracy has grown to 240 million visits per month over the past year, a staggering number that sums up to a major economic loss for publishers.
