The platform Netflix announced by statement that the twenty-third film in the multimedia franchise of Pokémon, titled Pokémon: Koko, will be published in its catalog worldwide on October 8th. In Latin America this film is entitled Pokémon: Secrets of the Jungle, also with a synchronization in Latin Spanish.

The film opened in Japanese theaters on December 25, 2020 and debuted at number 2 on its opening weekend, just behind the then dominant film. Kimetsu no Yaiba: Mugen Ressha-hen. In fact, the premiere was originally scheduled for July 10, 2020, but has been postponed to the planning of the premiere due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. This film is the first animated film in two years since the youngest Pokémon Detective Pikachu (a live action film) and Mewtwo strikes back evolution (a 3D CG remake of the 1998 film).

Cast

This film adds the following characters to the franchise:

  • Shoko nakagawa like Karen, an investigator.
  • Kankurou Nakamura like Zarude.
  • Moka Kamishiraishi like Koko.
  • Kouichi Yamadera as Professor Zed, a Biotope Company investigator whom Satoshi meets while visiting the Okoya Forest.

Production team

  • Tetsuo yajima (Pokémon: Minna no Monogatari) was responsible for directing the feature film in the studios Oriental light and magic (OLM), while TOHO took care of the distribution.
  • Atsuhiro Tomioka was responsible for writing and looking after the series scripts.
  • Hirotaka marufuji (Pokémon: Minna no Monogatari) took care of the character design and also served as chief animation director in conjunction with Yasushi Nishitani.
  • Masafumi Mima was responsible for the sound line.

Pokémon Synopsis: Koko

Deep in the jungle, far away from any civilization, lies the Okoya Forest, a Pokémon paradise that outsiders are forbidden. In this jungle lives Koko, a boy who was raised as another Pokémon by the unique Pokémon Zarude. Koko firmly believes it is a Pokémon. One day, after a chance encounter with Ash and Pikachu, Koko begins to bond with her first human friend. Is it really a Pokémon or is it a human?
