More than a decade after the first thirteen episodes, Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt finds a sequel. During Anime Expo 2022, Studio Trigger actually announced big news for the franchise.
During the related panel at the Los Angeles event Studio trigger surprised fans with a shocking comeback. In fact, the staff showed a very short clip showing the main protagonists of Panty & Stocking wearing garterbelts, posing and with their middle finger out, and engraved with the phrase “New Panty & Stocking”.
The first 13 episodes of the series originally aired in 2010, produced by GAINAX Studio under the direction of Hiroyuki Imaishi, composition by Geek Fleet and designs by Atsushi Nishigori. At the moment we don’t know if the cast will be confirmed again after all these years.
A A new project for the series was expected in 2016, when GAINAX announced they were working on something related to the franchise. However, the production of a sequel to Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt has passed into the hands of Studio Trigger, which also showed at Anime Expo the intro of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, the anime series based on the cult video game that’s about to arrive Netflix.
