On the official site for the anime adaptation of the manga, written and illustrated by Sousuke Tooka, Ousama Ranking (Ranking of Kings) the production of a special episode for 2023 in Japan was announced. This episode is entitled "Yuki no takarabako (Treasure Chest of Courage)" and will tell a story not seen in the anime adaptation.
For her part, Touka began publishing the manga independently through the portal manga hack and other services in May 2017. Then the publisher Kadokawa began paper publication in direct format compiled volumes in February 2019. The work inspired a 23-episode anime adaptation produced by WIT studio and premiered during the season of Autumn-2021 (October-December).

Ousama Ranking Summary
The people of the kingdom despise the young prince Bojji, who can neither hear nor speak. They call him "The Useless Prince" while poking fun at his alleged stupidity. Although Bojji may not be strong enough physically, he is not weak at heart. When a chance encounter with a shadowy creature should have traumatized him, she instead leads him to believe that he has found a friend among those who choose to look only to his flaws. He begins to hang out regularly with Kage the Shadow, to the point that even the otherwise aggressive creature is beginning to warm to him. Kage and Bojji's unlikely friendship sets the stage for the prince's journey as he tries to overcome his fears and insecurities. Despite the constant teasing he faces, Bojji is determined to fulfill his desire to become the best king he can be.
